Active@ KillDisk is a utility for trashing, recycling, reusing, or donating disk drives. I've got an old PC in the garage and before we donate it (like anyone wants this way behind-the-times PC!) or correctly trash it, we need to use a program like this to wipe the disk clean. The free edition has all but three of the features found in the full edition. The Web site has an Adobe Acrobat and online version of the user guide, complete with screen shots. It supports IDE and SCSI drives and it doesn't matter if the drive is FAT or NTFS. It's scary whenever reformatting anything even if it's just a little ol' floppy or a tape. The program requires double confirmation, which will ease the nerves. The utility completely wipes floppies and hard disk drives by physically overwriting data, thus defeating available recovery software.
