easy cd creator 5 problem

I have recently found a problem with easy cd creator 5, it has started to report the cd media as writabilty non recordable, this does not happen all the time, sometimes when i start the pc its ok and i can burn cds ok in ezcd 5.
Nero works fine, could it be because of installing alcohol 120% recently??
anybody have a good idea.jtk

I found alcohol a bit buggy, especially when it came to ejecting cds, so I ejected it into the bin and installed Virtual drive ........Does it report that the Media is "high speed" and it cannot write to it ...........If it was me I would bin alcolhol, and re-install easycd which could be such a good programme only if it were a bit more stable.........6 will be out in a couple of weeks ....I want it

In general, Roxio sux. Also, Roxio and Nero really don't like each other. I have not tried Alcohol. Here is what I use.

1. NTI CD Maker Platinum 6. Audio/Data/ISOs

2. Burnatonce (Freeware: burnatonce.com) Audio/ISOs/Cue-bin files.

3. CDclone.

I don't do video work but I've heard NTI is also excellent for this.

I would uninstall Roxio but this is a bitch as it leaves registry entries all over the place. Good luck!

Alcohol 120%-->options-->emulation--> deselect "ignore media type"
This should fix it,since this is a more powerful version of CloneCd's "hide cdr media",and thus hiding the atip of your cd-r.......

Hi guys thanx for your good ideas,i have complely uninstalled ezcd 5 platinum and cleaned all folders with adaptec and shared adaptec,then did a new installed of ezcd 5 with update now it seems to behave itself.

I have in Alcohol 120%-->options-->emulation--> deselect "ignore media type and that seems now to work as well, fingers crossed.

I have a sneeky idea that the problem could be a win2k system service pack 3 file, when i reinstalled ezcd 5 it replaced a win2k sp3 system file and as i said it seems to work now.
