Accelenation has done a review of the Philips 3210 Combo CD Writer. This is a 32x10x40x12x (cd read/write/rewrite/dvd read) combo bundled with many features and a very good price.
"I think I've managed to cover most of the common purposes to which this drive will be put. Traditionally combo drives have been frowned upon, because better performance could usually be achieved by buying two separate drives and for less money. However for the most part this drive matches the performance of individual drives, and at only 55UK£ before VAT (<80us $) you?ll be hard pressed to find a cheaper alternative. Unfortunately this drive may be difficult to find in the U.S., which might explain why there are few reviews in existence. At least I've now plugged that hole."
