my Lexmark Z13 cant be detected by Win2k SP3.
I get a yellow ! in the device manager, for USB Device.

I've tried installing the drivers, the won't install cuz it cant find the printer.
i've tried updating the USB drivers from ECS's website (the motherboard is an ECS K7S5A), couldn't get them to update....
i tried downloading USB drivers from SiS's website (the k7s5a uses SiS), wouldn't install either.

my other USB (networking) device works fine!

anyone?

;edit
and this is all the lexmark site says;
"Cannot install the printer on USB. I cannot find in Device Manager the USB Root Hub

Problem: In the Universal Serial Bus Controller category, a host controller is listed, but there is NOT a USB Root Hub therefore cannot install the printer on USB

Solution: Be aware that this is NOT a printer issue and that it relates ONLY to Intel's USB controller.

Close this window to resume the troubleshooting session"
thats the closest thing i could find....but there *IS* a Root Hub (2 for some reason)

I had a HP printer that was supposed to work on either USB or Parallel.

Like yours, the installation couldn't find the USB connection, but I installed as a parallel port, and then changed properties to a USB port and it worked. It's clumsy, but only when installing.

If your printer is a dual port, it might work for you.
