Hi,
Assuming you are using a NT based OS (like NT 4.0, W2K or WXP) and therefore the NTFS file system, I would use "Easy Recovery 5.X" from Ontrack Data International. Another similar program is "Lost & Found" a recently discontinued product from Powerquest (it may still be downloadable for free from their web site). Both of these programs boot from DOS and can read some if not all versions of NTFS. Other possibilities are Recover4All professional, and NTRecover. You must use these programs very quickly after the accidental deletion to avoid the data space being overwritten by other programs or the OS. Once the file is overwritten, either partially or completely, you are out of luck. Good luck in your recovery attempts. I would be remiss if I didn't add that frequent backups are your best defense against accidental data loss. CDRW drives and CDRs are so cheap that there is no excuse not to backup your important data.
