Oct. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp., the largest seller of gasoline-electric vehicles, won't use its most- advanced batteries in every new hybrid because some models don't require the extra power.
The automaker is working to perfect a durable lithium-ion battery with better performance than the current nickel-metal hydride standard, said Yoshitaka Asakura, general manager of Toyota's hybrid system engineering division. Still, the new, costlier technology won't appear in all vehicles.
