Pioneer and Mitsubishi said they have developed Blu-ray recordable discs (BD-R) with organic dye in the recording layer. According to the companies, organic dye BD-Rs will enable disc manufacturers to produce BD-R media on CD-R and DVD-R lines “with only minor adjustments”, paving the way for lower priced BD-R media.
