New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday that the city's signature yellow taxi cabs would all be using hybrid energy within five years, reducing air pollution and helping to combat climate change.
Bloomberg, who earlier this year announced an ambitious program to cut the city's greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent before 2030, said the new vehicles would start being phased in immediately, replacing the current fleet.
