On Tuesday 29th of November we will be closing both neowin and neowin5.net so that we can shift all the data to the new servers. This transition will take place early Tuesday morning on Central European Time. This means that our American visitors may start to see the site come back online in the afternoon.
The process
At the moment Neowin.net runs on 3 hosted servers at thePlanet, those servers were canceled last week because we now own 4 servers located in Chicago on Cogent. We have spent the last 2 months installing and configuring those servers. They were opened for public testing 2 weeks ago.
All the post data from the forums and news will be moved to the new servers, effectively overwriting the situation at neowin5.net. The only data that will be saved is the blogs, which is a new feature at neowin currently only available to staff and will later be made available as a subscriber option.
Members & guests can take the time today to look over the new forum setup at neowin5 forums, anyone who registered before Oct 15th 2005 can login to their normal forum accounts, or create a new one.Read full story...
