My dad uses Money 2000 for his accounts. Ever since then I have tried to get successive versions of Money to upgrade to work. When it tries to convert his file it comes up:

This file was created by an incompatible version of Money and cannot be converted

or something like that. Surely Money 2000 files are compatible with 2001, 2002 and I even tried 2003!

Any suggestions? Tried exporting, but all the account details and amounts are messed up.

I looked for but found no patch you might need. Hope you get it resolved. Is it possible your Money 2000 file is corrupt? Has your dad been backing up his Money files to a floppy and did you try that one too? And are these both US versions of Money and not UK or Canadian versions? Lastly, did the Money 2000 come with your dad's computer? I've heard of some people having issues trying to upgrade an OEM version. He might have to bite the bullet and uninstall Money 2000 and start anew with 2003.

You could try here for more /http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=microsoft.public.money

Here's what Microsoft says about your issue.

Q: I?m using a very old version of Money and would like to upgrade to Money 2003. Is there anything special I need to do to convert my file?

A: Converting your Money file is easy! After you install and start Money 2003, Money will automatically convert the last file that was open in your previous version of Money. If you do not see your data in the converted file, the wrong file may have been converted. To open a different Money file, click Open on the File menu. Navigate to the location of the file you want to convert, and then double-click the file to begin the conversion process.

I think the problem is that the original Money 2000 is a UK version and I have been trying to install a US version. It is a proper retail Money 2000, so I think if he went out and bought the UK distributed version of Money 2003 it should upgrade.

Oh well I guess I'll have to look around for a UK version cos all the other ones I've tried must be US.

Thanks for the response anyways dude. Much appreciated.
