Went to the "Cinema" today for first time since the original "Matrix" came out. I really don't enjoy having to sit in one spot where I can't smoke for 2 Hrs, not mention you can't hit "pause" to go take a leak! And Humans SMELL!!!!!!!!!!!!
So why did I do this? One word "The Guide"!
I *HAD* to go see the new "Guide".
I will not spoil this for anyone but would like to give a short review.
I've seen the BBC TV version at least 15 times. I'm happy to report that the 'new' actors do a fine job. I did find myself bored a few times when the dialog was verbatim, so the 1st 1/2 of the movie left me feeling...
...ok.
One critique, the graphics of the "book" SUX!!!!! They are CHILDISH! They got on my nerves!
Now, about 1/2 way through the movie John Malkovich enters the story. He's only on screen for maybe 4~5 minutes but, he introduces a 'plot twist' NOT in the original that continues throughout.
Like I said. I won't spoil anything but I perked up about this time. The last 30 Mins of this pretty much kick ass. Fans of the book/radio show/BBC TV versions won't feel cheated at all in the end. It takes a while to get there, then again, it always does.
