Command To View All Ports Being Used.

Hey All,

I remember some time ago, there was a discussion that talked about being able to view all ports that were being used on a machine... I searched the forums and came up empty handed...

Perhaps I am not being clear with what I am looking for, so I will ask this question:

My little brother has been playing poker games online using Empire Poker. It is an application that runs on the users machine that connect to their server. Well, that is all the kid does - plays poker - never really pays attention to his studies. So I was asked by my mother if there was a way to block this program, to force my little brother to study... So I checked Empire Poker's website for the ports it uses to connect to... Nothing was listed...

I am currently behind a router so I can control what ports are opened for my little brother. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to find out what port this software works off of so I can block it from the router?

Yes, I am the devil , but this is for the sake of my little brother doing well in school! He needs to get his grades up or else his entire computer privileges get booted for a while... Which would force me to lock him out of his own computer... h34r:" class="inlineimg" />

Thanks for your input, but HotRod had exactly what I was looking for. Thanks HotRod!

Besides, closing off port 80 for just my little brother is not a problem... I have him set up to a static IP off the router so I can just close off the ports I want for that specific IP from the router without interfering with any other user on my network.

Thanks. HotRod already sent me in that direction... had the program installed last night. I like how it maps out everything for you... Very nice program.

That would be the easy way, but if I did that, he would not be able to use the internet to look up assignements he has for school... It is better to just block the ports being used for this game he is playing this way he can continue with his studies.

Block the game name in the firewall and then have his account with limited access and the firewall program be password protected.......You could use the excuse that people are getting in systems without passworded programs.
