Had a great time. Ill post some links to pics of my army unit reunion as soon as they get developed. Saturday we packed the eugene hilton with 1000 vets from the 11th armored cavalry. All vietnam vets. Heard from 3 generals and the command sargent major from fort irwin in the nevada desert where the cav is training troops as the aggressor unit at the national training center. Ive been invited to fort irwin to spend a few days in the field with them and may just take them up on it.
Glad all went well James, did you meet up with any comrades you were not sure made it back?
And i'm sure you could teach the rookies at the national training center a few things if you decided to take them up on their offer
@ James I read somewhere before in one of your threads that you were a gunner right? I seen on the Discovery Wings Channel a special that said in vietnam a gunner life expectency out of the choppers during combat was something like 30 seconds.
I might add tht none of my hht aviation platoon was there. I already knew that the one who took over my ship was shot down and didnt make it and yes I was huey crew chief and gunner and it looks like I got past the 30 second rule. Theres no place like home.
Welcome back, The irony of where your reunion was held. Considering how pro-peace Eugene is. LOL Well glad to see you made it back to Cali in one peace err one piece.
