password problems

i was using mandrake today and it won't accept my root password
and i know i am typing it right cause i wrote it down.i was wondering if there is a way to change it without a root password cause i don,t want to have to reinstall again

You can reinstall it without formatting the partitions. Most of the system setting will remain the same.
