if u got the licence for the song file:
i think the following method should work:
(1.1) wmp > licence management > back up now > back them up to a floppy or (1.2). go to the folder where wmp backed up your licence (usually \My Music\Licence Backup (a hidden folder) and copy the folder to your other pc
(2) in that 2nd pc, go to wmp > licence management > restore now and choose your floppy
(3) u shud now be able to play your protected content

if u have lost the licence for the song file:
did u encode them with copy protection on?
what version of wma is that? wma2, wma7, wma8 or wma9?
there is a program called unf**k.exe to decrypt wma2 or wma7 files, that's what i learnt from this thread here:
http://www.betaone.net/forums/index....360&hl=decrypt

btw, i still miss my two audio albums. ripped them with copy protection - accidently. that was like two years ago. i have lost the audio cds now. and missing the songs as well.

Simpler than that. People are beginning to share (p2p) wma files.

The thread you referred me to says it all. Easiest to just forget about old wma files, eh?

rikytik m8, some people still dont know how to use wma files. the copy protection is enabled by default in windows media player 7.1 and in 8, so when u encode them they can only be played at the person's computer who encoded them (unless a licence is also provided to others).
that's why we can't play some wma files when p2p sharing.

in windows media player 9, when u start encoding files for the first time and if the copy protection is enabled, a message box pops up and asks: the copy protection is enabled, do u want to change it (something like that).
so it is highly unlikely that we miss to disable it.

well m8, seriously i havent given up my hunt to decrypt my precious old songs.
so u encoding in wma or what? i am encoding at WMA9 VBR 98% (240kbps ~ 355kbps) quality and no one can equal that quality by MP3. (because MP3 320kbps quality is already beaten by WMA9 when it passes 160kbps).

I avoid wma and only use mp3. Sometimes I have run across the odd wma file when searching for something special. There are an increasing number of them. ...and the subject seems to be heating up.

Appreciate your comments. Thanks.

This is a little off the subject but a fun read:

One other program can only be described as a kind of psychological "All Your Base" campaign, only for real. It deletes all the MP3s it can find on your computer so you have to buy the music again in DRM'd form. And then your music will truly belong to them, because once the DRM noose is around your neck, they only need to tighten it.

Use WMA9!

Next time rip the tracks with MusicMatch to .mp3 rather than .wma.
