I repaired xp pro cus my direct X was corrupt, so now it wont recognize my video card , or install the detonators from nvidia, i uninstall them, reinstall, uninstall reinstall, after i install and reboot, there are no options for my video card everything in the settings tab / advanced button says <Unknown> blah blah and addhardware wont install them even if i put in the location for the .inf file... I asked Microsoft about the ones who told me to repair and i should be fine, they said "whoops, not our problem, blame it on the graphics card manufacturer, its not our problem" gee thanks MS blame it on the hardware?...

just_do_IT is an unknown quantity at this point
Have you tried right clicking display adapters and scanning for hardware changes?

What version of direct x are you using? (curious)

I think the turn off part or cold boot is the important part.

Was your original XP install a 'clean' install or an upgrade from another OS? If 'clean' it sounds like a format c might be in order?

"noticed i have nowhere to put my VGA cable"

How did it work before??????
