Expert: Legacy Java Development Is Dead
The legacy style of enterprise Java application development has given way to a new world of frameworks and modular componentry, according to Rod Johnson, founder and CEO of Springsource. "It is pretty clear that the legacy approach to server-side Java development is done," said Johnson, speaking at TheServerSide Java Symposium in Las Vegas March 27. Johnson cites SpringSource's open-source lightweight Java development platform Spring Framework as well as OSGi [Open Services Gateway initiative] as primary drivers of the change.
