uber 1337 - very elite (uber = german)

mobo - mother board
cpu - central processing unit
gpu - graphics processing unit
apu - audio processing unit
agp - accelerated graphics port (soley devoted to video card)
nic - network interface card (what your computer uses to access a network)
psu - power supply unit
smp - symmetric (spellin?) multi-processing (more than 1 processor)
hsf - heat sink and fan
dvi - digital visual interface (for expensive digital monitors etc)
die/slug - core of cpu (the rectangle/sqaure that has text on it, processor model/speed/serial number)
BIOS - basic input/output system
DIMM - dual inline memory module (ram slot)
SIMM - single inline memory module (ram slot)
RAM - random access memory
ROM - read only memory
FPM - fast page mode
EDO - extended data output
DRAM - dynamic RAM
SDRAM- synchronous dynamic RAM
DDR-SDRAM(DDR) - double data rate SDRAM
RDRAM - rambus DRAM

vpn - virtual private networking (using the internet to communicate with a foreign lan and let u browse that network)

POST - Power-On Self Test (The test that the BIOS carries out to make sure that the RAM, cpu and motherboard are working)

RAID - Redundant Array of Independant (Inexpensive) Disks (An array of hard drives which can be calibrated to mirror eachother or splitting data across the array to increase performance along with other things. A detailed explanation can be found here:
