I dont think that I'm leaving out anything but if anyone need's more info let me know.
Megaduce .... Looking at your specs, the only way that you can improve your serving is if you are able to get a faster connection and better upload speeds. You can probably improve your system performance by setting up a raid, but as far as I see you need a much faster connection.
Which is a better Raid Hardware or software I'm thinking both would be better but cant afford a hardware Raid right now maybe next yean for sure. maybe I can get a good copy of a software Raid from one of the peeps Here I'll wait a while and see if anyone else has anything to say then I'll post a request thanx for the info dude
Hi Megaduce, the Alcatel Modem is your biggest problem. There are some new ADSL modems coming out (external ones that you can do things with). Linksys has a modem and D-Link list (3) on their Website. Have a look at /http://www.dlink.com for a DSL-300 modem. It has some nice features. Also if you want to run a Server it realy should be a separate computer. Could even be an old PII 300 Mhz or something like that.
Hey thanks crowdirt I went to the site and look at the spec and I like the modem I'm going to purches it as soon as possible meaning before the new and then next year I'll get one of the firewall box's also thanx guyz for the info

Can you tell me what you mean by "the Alcatel Modem is your biggest problem. There are some new ADSL modems coming out (external ones that you can do things with"
I have Speed Touch USB ADSL modem and would love to find a way of "uncapping" it's speed if it was possible...

Hi Folks, if there is a Speed Cap applied to your ADSL Connection, that usually is done from the "Providers" end. Most ADSL modems can go up to 8 MBits per sec. down and 640 KBits up. The New D-Link modem is like that also. It has some nice Monitoring features though, which would provide better info. on what is going on.
My reference to the Alcatel was that the Modem Config. (Speed Cap) is the main problem that Megaduce has. If a Speed Cap has been put in place the User has little choice on that issue.
Most ADSL modems are still only available through "Providers", but there are more options available now to be aware of. Some Providers allow you to "Purchase" your own modem these days.
