With Intel having recently announced in its second-quarter revenues report a net income of US$1.3 billion, an on-year growth of 44%, and strong performance of the Core 2 Duo series, market sources predict that when AMD publishes its own report, which is due shortly, it will not be a pretty picture.
The key for Intel's recovery in first half of 2007 has been its Core 2 Duo series processors. Conroe has been able to match or better AMD's Athlon 64 X2 processors on the desktop in terms of price/performance helping drive demand and boosting the Intel brand; while in the mobile market, Merom has also been beating AMD's Turion 64 X2 easily.
