The surprise is not that it happens every year, but that we're surprised every year when it happens: the mad dash for summer. Productivity and stress soar in the scramble to accomplish some form of meaningful fiscal planning for 2008 before everything shuts down from late June through Labor Day.
Then, in the weeks before our own vacation time, we scramble again -- to square away tickets, hotel accommodations, itineraries, dog sitters and emergency contacts.
