the late 1990's, when force feedback was a buzzword, the gaming tech market saw an explosion of joysticks and driving wheels featuring the relatively novel technology. It went largely ignored (PC gamers would rather be buried with their keyboards and mice than live long lives with 'game controllers').

oday, we're witnessing another boom, this one surrounding gaming headsets. Unlike those old force-feedback doodads, headsets are useful: They allow you to play late at night when the rest of the family is in bed. They're great for communicating with games and apps that boast voice-over-IP, and the best of the lot can sound fantastic.
