SOFTWARE GIANT Microsoft seems to have allowed the great unwashed the chance to play with its trial versions of Vista.
The Vista 5728 build became 'publically available' over the weekend
here.
Vole says it decided to release Vista to the riff raff because it has a number of improvements and updates from RC1, but has not been put through the same internal testing process as RC1 and therefore may be unstable.
A spokesVole said that the release will be available for a limited time and and only by download in order to get broad distribution and testing in a variety of PC configurations. In other words, the deadline for release is fast approaching and Vole is a little concerned that some of its software might not work properly without mass testing.
The Vole server contains the 64-bit version although there is not a link on the main page. Vole seems to have read some of our complaints about not being able to kill off the start-up music as there are instructions on how to disable it.
