3 letters kinda...LOL If you have a store bought copy of home, then SP1 should fine with the original key from the retail. But if it's a w@rez copy...I'd reconsider either buying a copy or just avoiding Windows Update.

My 2 cents,
BaBa

Where have you been the past couple of weeks? There was specific information provided by M$ that SP1 would "fix" cracked copies of WXP (i.e. those using the Hunter type cracks). If you have been using this type of crack to trick WXP into thinking it is activated you will not be able to use SP1 without activating through the normal WPA system. Until a similar crack is found for SP1 (but there is no guarantee of this) you should stay away from SP1. The only people who are going to be able to make it through SP1 without problems are: 1) legal copies of WXP, and 2) Corporate versions not installed with 2 blacklisted keys. Even then, there are hints that after October only folks in category 1 will be able to successfully use Windows Update. It is also hinted that folks in category 2 using "blue" keys will have their copies of WXP disabled should they attempt to use Windows Update. M$ may even be able to disable these copies automatically if you have BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) active. Sorry, but things are about to get very interesting and frustrating for the next couple of weeks.

Unless you want to have to reinstall windows again dont install SP1, simple as that. SP1 will detect the crack you are using and tell you to re register windows- or worse it will disable windows
