Tring to use Airsnort
So far I've followed the instructions:
Code:
http://airsnort.shmoo.com/windows.html
and the computer I'm tring it on has a built-in wireless card:
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection

AND
I'm unsure if my wireless connector is appropriate. The reality is I don't need another Wifi card just to play with AirPeek, or snort for that matter, but if there is a significant jump in performance I'd spend the $70 CND cash to acquire a card so that I could go wireless easier, more range, etc.

I'm thinking of purchasing:
Code:
http://www.anitec.ca/default.aspx?mode=product_detail&pid=2257
Need anymore info?

I'm realizing that I'm probably better off not buying another wireless card, and leaving my laptop alone for the time being. The only reason for me to get the card now.. is to be able to use app of mention.. and I don't believe to be a good investment to buy something just to play with wireless connectivity.

Have you tried net stumbler? it can reconfigure your wireless card and windows to use "any" wireless network. It said on my computer "your computer is set to only recognize 'linksys' wireless network, or something like that" and it reconfigured it to see all wireless networks (encrypted and unencrypted). Just a thought

edit:

btw, netstumbler is very useful for driveby wireless network usage! Its not illegal if the owner of the wireless network doesn't take the measures to secure it! Think about it if you found enough networks you could charge them a fee to secure it for them! i'm all about ways to make some money!

I know probably none of this helped Cybey, but figured I'd try anyways!
