SIRCOOKS is an unknown quantity at this point
when transferring files lets say between my two internal hds, both 7200 rpm, i have recntly noticed a big slow down, also in my unzipping from lets say winrar or winzip, i downlaoded a vid the other day that was more than a gig, and it took me a half hour to complete the process and put the files where i wanted them.

What im asking is, doses anyone know of or ever heard of any slowdown problem like this, maybe its something i should change in my bios?....is there something in the registry i can correct or upgrade....id like my stuff to really speed up, i remeber when i use to do it in under 5 minutes, all of it, now its taking forever.

Did you check if both your drives are running in DMA mode?

Have you added antivirus software recently? that can slow the system down a lot depening on what software you use.

Have you defragged the drive recently? Heavily fragmented drives can slow a system down considerably.

Have you checked taskmanager for suspicios entries using 100% cpu time? Sometimes processes hang or loop using a high percentage of cpu time and excessive drive usage.
