The government alleged it paid money for kit and services but never got the goodies.
The payment follows an inherited contract from Compaq Canada, according to HP, and while the firm maintains there's little evidence its employees benefited from the contractual scheme, it decided to settle with the government rather than get involved in endless litigation.
But HP will take legal action against the individuals concerned to try and recover the money from those people and from other companies too.
SOurce the INQ!
