A couple months ago I clicked a link to the new windows update v5.
It's a public beta for the new windows update and you don't need SP2 to use it, it works on any version of XP or 2000.
Now I can't figure out how to get rid of the damm thing.
Both my links to WU, in my start menu and in IE have been changed and I get redirected to: \
http://test.v5.windowsupdate.microblablabla.
(I don't want to post the link and screw up anyone else).
Unlike the other versions of WU, this one isn't controlled by an activeX object, I have deleted all of them I still get stuck with WU v5.
I also don't have anything in my add-remove program list to get rid of it and I can't find anything in the registry with test.v5
When I get to WU5, there is a link to get to the beta newsgroup but I can't get in because I don't have a beta ID. (The frigging thing is a public beta now!).
Anyone know how I can rid of this and go back to windows update v4?
My friend has a similar problem where he gets redirected to a blank page with a different address: /http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/V5consumer/thanks.aspx?ThanksPage=7
Thanks,
Dave
