Nudes not nerds
A CALENDAR showing semi-nude female IT developers seems to have upset a few people in Oz.
IT Screen Goddesses calendar was created by IT expert Sonja Bernhardt and aims to convince people that women in the computer industry aren't nerds.
It has snaps of IT developers in the all together in a bid to show women outside the industry that women who do computing are not geeks.
"They are full bodied, fully intelligent, fully socialised women who absolutely love what they do," Bernhardt said.
However the Australian Computer Society has withdrawn from the project over concerns about the American Beauty cover shot featuring Brisbane IT manager Sonja Breeze.
Bernhardt has been slammed by others in the IT industry who claim she is making women into sex objects.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald some people it spoke to thought it impossible to encourage intelligent women into a supposedly intelligent by presenting them as bimbos.
Another thought that the message the calendar was that if you're a women that's going to make it in the IT world, you should be good looking.
A female IT lecturer claimed she was shocked to see the calendar in the paws of her male PhD students. They seemed to agree with her that this was a sexist way of encouraging females into our field. Still, it worked for the Womens' Institute.
