Britons Warned Over Illegal MP3 Site
Users of bargain music download website AllOfMP3.com have been warned that they are breaking the law. The Russian-based music downloading site has gained massive popularity in the UK, offering albums for as little as £1, but the the record industry trade association in Britain warned that the site was not licensed to sell digital music and was therefore illegal.

A survey found that AllOfMP3.com accounts for 14% of all UK music downloads, but Matt Phillips from the BPI had a warning for those using the online service.

"It is illegal for them to sell the recordings in Russia or anywhere else because they are not licensed, and UK consumers are infringing copyright law because they are making illegal copies from an unlicensed source."

The website states that it is licensed by the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society (ROMS) but the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) said this license was not legitimate and would not cover consumers in other countries even it it were.
