Surffice to say:

you own a dell and boom one day it say a year after you own it, boom it wont boot up! So you call dell and that 3 year tech support you paid 300$ some dollars for, they tell you "alright sir we will send someone out to your house to replace that for you"...fantastic you say and the next day or something like that they guy shows up and boom your fixed! now say it never happens again all you have done is spent say $300 on onsite techsupport to just replace a 65$ part from a local store!

Math time:

$300 onsite tech support - replaces parts and tech comes out to your home or business....

lets say that your RAM craps out on you from not enough air flow or something, so lets see, it costs on average for 1GB of ram around 84$, so if that goes out it costs approx $5.35 for shipping so you would've spent only say 90$ vs 300$. I'd say that its a pretty good savings and you could use the money for something else for your computer!

Also remember after you purchase it if it craps out on you again during the warranty you dont buy it again you send it back to the manufacturer and they WILL service the product under warranty or replace it for no charge to you!

Now i'm no math wiz or anything but I think I just saved ~ $210.00 and could save even more if I let the manufacturer service the product!

hmm average problems per computer is less than 1 a year that requires part replacement, so that means that per year I would spend at most 90$ x 3 years = $270 still a savings of $30. which means I could save even more! Just by sending it back to the manufacturer and letting them send me a new one (return shipping to me is prepaid by them and cost me nothing for the replacement).

I hope this has enlightened someone that really didn't know the truth about computers and warranties, if you do have questions please talk to someone here we will set you straight and get you the information that you need to make an informed decision!
