AMD Subpoenas 15 in Intel Suit
Advanced Micro Devices stated today that 15 companies have been served subpoenas in its antitrust lawsuit against Intel Corporation. On the list were computer makers and a dozen distributors and retailers such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Lenovo Group, Gateway, Sun Microsystems, NEC and units of Fujitsu, as well as retailers Circuit City and Best Buy. Michael Silverman, a spokesman for AMD, said that the company was not suing the subpoenaed companies, but rather trying to extract information and evidence valuable to its case.

AMD's suit states that Intel attempted to use scare tactics to strong-arm as many as 38 companies, including major computer manufacturers, smaller system builders, retailers, and distributors. Those familiar with the trial do not expect it to head to the courts until 2007 at the earliest.
