I just checked my PC temps and had a 250GB Maxtor that was running 60C. 3 other HD's in the case are running 39, 41 and 43. I usually run the PC without the cover. I put the cover cover on to increase air flow around the HD's and now the Maxtor is running 54C. Mobo and cpu are running 31 and 35C respectively.
This is an ASUS P4C800-E board in an Antec Sonata case.
I first checked with Everest Ultimate and then d/l'd SpeedFan v 4.24 to compare. It shows roughly the same temps as Everest. But, shows an additional two LM75 sensors showing 127C!!!!
According to the configuration screen, these two LM75 temperature sensor readings are "intel SMBus". Can anyone tell me if this reading is significant?
These latter two sensors don't show up in Everest Ultimate 2005 program.
Anybody got observations about a hd running at 54C?

btw, I checked the specs for Maxtor. Looks like the Opeation temp range is up to 55C.
