I looked for but found no patch you might need. Hope you get it resolved. Is it possible your Money 2000 file is corrupt? Has your dad been backing up his Money files to a floppy and did you try that one too? And are these both US versions of Money and not UK or Canadian versions? Lastly, did the Money 2000 come with your dad's computer? I've heard of some people having issues trying to upgrade an OEM version. He might have to bite the bullet and uninstall Money 2000 and start anew with 2003.

Here's what Microsoft says about your issue.

Q: I?m using a very old version of Money and would like to upgrade to Money 2003. Is there anything special I need to do to convert my file?

A: Converting your Money file is easy! After you install and start Money 2003, Money will automatically convert the last file that was open in your previous version of Money. If you do not see your data in the converted file, the wrong file may have been converted. To open a different Money file, click Open on the File menu. Navigate to the location of the file you want to convert, and then double-click the file to begin the conversion process.
