Intel demonstrates would be Mini Mac killer
Don Macdonald, new general manager of the Digital Home divsion of Intel said there were around 1.3 billion homes on the planet and the intention of the corporation is to leave no home behind.

He showed off a small device which fitted in the palm of his hand, using the Napa set of dual chip technologies which could well be aimed, as a reference platform or concept PC, at knocking Apple off its consumer perch, along with Intel's close partner in this area, Microsoft.

The Digital Home market is worth around $600 billion worldwide, said MacDonald, which by any measure is a huge opportunity.

According to Intel, Microsoft and itself believe in the idea of a PC being at the heart of a digital household, and offers the best combination of value and performance.

Intel and MS will make protected content flow freely throughout the home and make DTCP IP interoperate.

There are a few problems with this common vision, which many of us already realise. Those of us who have used a PC for the last 20 plus years are somewhat sceptical of the operating system software, although we're sure Intel is up to the hardware side.
