War suggested tech schools. They offer a quick degree, often in approx 2 years, but it often comes at a high price, upwards of 30,000. It may be fairly difficult to get a Fedex driving job, usually they are a senority position, you have to work up to be a full time employee first then work up to being a driver. I understand that they make decent money.
As far as being a police officer, it often requires a degree, and then the time you have to spend at the accademy. I would assume that you would start out at about 30,000 a year; 15.00 an hour. There is a lot of opportunity for overtime if you are in a large city... the job can be stressful, but also rewarding.
I would suggest checking out local government jobs, city, and county. If you make a trip down to city hall they usually have posted jobs and a place where you can fill out an application, they may also have the job listings for other surrounding cities, assuming you are in a larger metropolitian area. Maybe try monster.com or hotjobs, you may find something that you were not aware that was out there. Good Luck!!
Ps: halliburton is hiring if you want to go to Iraq. you make a lot of money and it is tax free. Just a thought..
