thanks RichardC. I registered as a member at driverheaven, didn't see anything pertinent, but made a post.

I can't help feeling I'm missing something here. Why would a late model Intel 2.8 Ghz cpu and a top of the line mobo not be able to record tv video and sound from an ati 9600 pro? The ATI 9600 Pro hardware check confirms that it cannot, because the cpu does not have MMX capability. Weird.

My old Asus A7V8X with 2100+ AMD cpu works fine for recording with the old ATI MMC interface.
