If this is going to happen, then a reliable, stand-alone hardware decoder needs to be developed. All current ones are buggy, regardless of the chipset used. I want to watch movies on my TV, not on my computer monitor, and my Lite-On LVD-2001 has never worked properly for me. Reading other forums gives the impression problems abound with other players as well.
If DiVX is to be successful, which I hope it will be because of the reduced file size but still stellar quality, DiVX hardware players need to play as well and as reliably as DVD players.
