Upgrading memory in older PCs can be a real pain as only certain types and even brands seem to work sometimes. Try to buy it from someone who will refund you if it doesn't work

Check the speed of the memory too i.e. PC100, PC133 or faster
It is probably only PC100. Also is it DIMM or SIMM?
