Actually, Microsoft has not put any disabling ability in the new service pack. The current outlook is that even though someone may be using a pirated version, everyone requires protection from malicious code.
I tested this theory on a spare machine, and the machine is still working.
Furthermore, an email from MS in regards to this situation has been distributed.
