Smells fishy to me,
I think I know the owner "chris" (pretty good) from a past life and it would not surprise me if this is one big bubble to let him stop and keep the hardware & donations without members looking him up & rebuilding his face for free. He pulled some weird things in the past, he will do it again. My .2cents
