Guys,
I had a clean format again and this time I didn't connect to the network at all, until I finish installing all my necessary software. I then connected to the network and everything is working fine so far.
Inability to install programs using Windows Installer is pretty weird and it remains unexplained. May be my switch is bit dodgy.
