ian::. meant that the email could be checked via the hotmail link or by outlook /outlook express or something of that nature. If it is only this id that is not working in msn messenger where others are working in msn messenger on this same pc, then I would go to the msn web page and change my password. Perhaps that has become corrupt in the db. If the wrong password had been entered in that account it is also possible that it is now locked. Maybe someone else tried to log into your account. MSN has had a few problems lately though, so maybe it is a corrupt database on their part.
