BetaONE was founded on June 14 2001 by me, orig. My nick at the time was Originality. Since then we have grown to be quite a large site with quiate a large crew.
We are not located in any central office or building, rather we are spread out among the world's cities, small towns, and everything in between. Our crew may be spread out, but that in no way causes a flaw in communication. Ever since day one of BetaNet (that was the name of the site before we renamed it to what it currently is today) our crew has always communicated about not only the site, but their personal lives.
Our crew is made up of some admins that have been here since day one, such as BearCat, Rocky, and Sephiroth. We also have admins who are here because of their extremely developed talents, including pc_techie, Zone-MR, Lucky, Le Cactus, belthazor and derfy. The job of admin is not only to make sure the forum posts and replies are in line, but also to help keep users informed, updated, and satisfied with their BetaONE experience.
Our moderating team is made up mostly of volunteers. Many people request to be mods and want to give something back to the community, and this has happened since day one. Some of our first mods who are still mods today include pittpull, James55, DigitalSteel, A|V, NAAAARRRRF and DopeWeasel. Many other mods have come from the IRC channel, and from the crew fallout when many members volunteered. The job of a moderator is to keep each forum and every post within the BetaONE rules, and notify members if their post has broken a rule.
Of course there are some members here who used to be moderators but eventually didnt have the time or energy, and thus resigned. These people include TheCrossMovement, undac, hkey_root, Wickedkitten, unspec, and many others whom I've forgotten
