I couldn't install Longhorn either because of setup crahsing but
The problem was the raid card
After removing the raid controller I was able to install Longhorn without any problems.
I couldn't even install it when I tried to install to another hard drive not part of the raid setup. It didn't work though. I had to actually remove the raid card
