Yes this is a problem. With this new "solution" I'm afraid we'll get problem the other way around: Now we'll have to find what old app we have to uninstall before we can proceed with an installation of something else. Of course there might be an "inbuilt" solution to this situation, maybe like a guide locating the problem for us.
The last one or two years or so I think the problem hasn't been that big - many software developers tend to place all of the needed library files in the same dir as where the application is installed anyway. As applications most often seeks for the DLLs in the same dir as the app is located first most problems are allready solved this way.
Oh well.
