I have seen events like this frequently enough that you might have a problem like this one described on Technet. By default XP will just reboot but its also maybe possible that it will shutdown.

As far as the wattage goes just buy a 400 watt or better power supply if your going to replace the power supply and you will be fine.
Generally unless your case is filled with gadgets your ok with a 350 watt power supply or sometimes even less but thats pushing the envelope.
Btw cheap power supplies are just that, cheap and bring along lovely BSOD's right along with the cheap price so beware what you replace a power supply with.
Initially I glanced threw this thread too fast, after reviewing your problem I would agree that your power supply needs a new home in the trash can as long as your processor is not overheating.
