This may sound stupid but lots of times I have had to turn OFF everything connected to the computer and let it set for several minutes then reboot and most times it would let me. There have been a few times when i would reach in the closet and get out the harddrive with w98 and Partition magic on it, connect it as a master and the one you are using as slave. then tell the file goodbye.
