A special note about this tip is for anyone who uses an NVidia based video card and Windows 2000/XP. You'll see something called "NVQTweak" loading. This is NOT needed by either your card or the drivers. (It's a help tool.) Getting rid of it can really speed up shutdowns. Keep in mind though that you have to disable this thing EVERY time you install or rollback drivers.
