I don't like live discussion either. Half the time it does not get used so it ends up being dead space you have to scroll past constantly.
I'll say it again: Adding a function for all users to have to see whether they use it or not is not very considerate web design. Atleast if it HAS to be there, confine it to the forum front page, not on every friggin page. It bogs down slow connections and slow computers. Otherwise, I too think B1 has grown quiet. Even the news server does not see as many posts as the old forum downloads section did. Some people gave up on Betaone. Hopefully some will return.
I still check Betaone faithfully though.
